Sickness causes general body weakness and related conditions that can be eliminated by effective habits such as proper sleeping patterns or hours, a healthy diet among others. Unlike other surgeries, a hair transplantation procedure is a surgery performed outside the body and that means that you can witness every event that occurs during the recovery period.
A set of post-surgery instructions are provided differently, but there are some factors like sleeping patterns and postures that remain the same regardless of the type of hair transplant undergone.
During the hair transplant in India, a surgeon removes DHT resistant hair follicles from the back of the scalp or from the body using a specialized blade in the case of the Follicular Unit Transplantation (Strip or FUT) and a micropunch during the Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE). Once the strip is cut from the back of the scalp, it renders the donor region more delicate and prone to infections and bleeding.
To prevent all this, the surgeon will apply a bandage, but that doesnt mean that the donor region is 100% safe. A patient must watch out for injuries that can cause extensive bleeding.
With the FUE technique, the donor region is somehow less prone to injuries and bleeding as a micropunch is used to extract the follicular units. The micropunch is in the form of a needle and it only works by pulling out one or two hair follicles, which means that there is less or no tissue removed from the scalp that can initiate bleeding, but this doesnt mean that infections are prevented as they can still occur.
After an FUE procedure, there is no dressing performed on the donor region, but a common spray known as Grafcyte is sprayed on the transplanted region to facilitate in the healing process and prevention of infections. However, sleeping methods and instructions are vital as the scalp remains delicate during the first week of a hair transplant.
How to sleep after a hair transplantation?
These are some of the instructions that must be upheld after a hair transplant to protect the scalp and initiate proper recovery.
Sleeping hours
First and foremost sleeping is one of the major necessity in life in case the body must deliver a high output. Sleeping for at least 8 hours regularly helps the various organs of the body to fuel up and function as they ought to. Proper sleeping after a hair transplant will offer relaxation to the scalp and help it overcome any effects of stress that may have a negative impact on the scalp.
Sleeping & Swelling
In case you didnt know, sleeping is one way of preventing and relieving swelling that occurs after hair transplantation. As you sleep, the scalp is able to relax from the 7 hour procedure that was invasive to the scalp and the entire head. Sleeping immediately after a hair transplant will act like a massage for the veins and skin to function normally.
Sleeping Postures
Do not sleep on your back as this will damage the transplanted region. It is advisable that you sleep on your sides with your head positioned on a comfortable pillow. To attain more comfort, you can use two pillows to keep your scalp elevated from the wood or metal of the bed.
Sleeping pattern
Continue with a proper sleeping pattern of 7 to 8 or more hours for at least 5 months. This will help in the proper growth of new hair. While it may not be detected, sleeping for more hours will help you become more healthy and productive.
Here is what to keep in mind.
As you sleep, a normal discharge will occur and this is regardless of where you attain a hair transplant in Punjab. This discharge will flow to the pillow as the surgeon leaves the venous and lymphatic drainage of the scalp open. The discharge occurs due to the fact that the scalps outermost layer is disturbed (wounded).
Rather than using white colored pillowcases or bed sheets, use clean brown colored beddings that are hardly stained. Remember to return to the surgeon to change the dressing in case he recommended or you can take proper care at home.
Do not compromise with cleanliness and taking the medications as instructed.
