Hair loss causing thinning is called as alopecia and when it is caused by hormones and genetic characters, it is called as androgenetic alopecia.
In females a similar hair loss disorder occurs that results in very thin hair on the front side mid scalp part.
Causes of Androgenetic Alopecia
As it occurs as an inherited characteristic, the responsible factor is an effect of dihydrotestosterone (DHT) in a few scalp areas. It affects the hair growth and decreases the follicle density and thickness eventually resulting into fine hairs.
The females experiencing male pattern hair loss have large androgen levels and genetic bias. The females experience acne, irregular periods and wide hairs on body as well as face. These symptoms are named as polycystic ovarian syndrome.
On the other hand, Androgenetic alopecia in men affects them at specific stage of their lives such as it starts occurring at age 50 and then gradually increases that almost 80% of people experience wide hair loss in their 70s. It is found that Chinese men are slightly less affected by the hair loss.
How Androgenetic Alopecia affects men
Androgenetic Alopecia in men is related with their hormones named androgens and genes. It results into denuding a part of scalp such as top of head named as baldness. This type of hair loss is attributed with a decreasing hair line and hair loss on the front and top of the scalp.
The main cause of Androgenetic alopecia is genetic condition that results into reduced growth of hair cycle. It happens with minituarization of the follicles and gradually develops smaller and thinner hairs. Rather other body parts, hairs on scalp grow in bunches of three to four hairs.
Various responsible hormones include different age, progression, pattern, hair loss level in the family. The sensitive genes are transferred from parents to kids. In such case, test to evaluate genes is not helpful.
How Androgenetic Alopecia affects Women :
Females also suffer from hair loss problems like males however the hair loss type androgenetic alopecia in women is rare. Women at their 50s hit hair less and some of them go completely bald in their 80s.
Androgenetic alopecia results into diffuse thinning of hair on scalp because of extensive hair fall and decreased hair count. An average hair fall is about 50 to 100 hairs per day so you should not be worried it occurs up to this count. It is essential to distinguish the hair loss conditions for their better management.
Female hair loss is totally different from male pattern baldness that often stars from decreasing front hairs and grows to bald spot on the head top. It is rare in case of females to become bald.
